What is Business Coaching?

Business Coaching is the process of using an outside individual or company to help a business owner or organization improve their business through guidance, support and encouragement.

A Business Coach is like a sports coach. He or she pushes an athlete to achieve optimum performance, provides support when they are tired, and teaches the athlete to execute plays that their competition does not anticipate.

How does Coaching differ from Consulting?

A great Coach motivates you to take action. He helps you prioritize your projects and goals. He helps you plan your work and work your plan. He inspires you to make changes or take action. A great coach is a catalyst, accelerating the changes that you want for yourself and holds you to be accountable for those changes.

A Consultant is generally a specialist in a certain industry or trade. He brings to the table experience in a certain discipline or business and provides a solution(s) that solves a specific problem or accomplishes a specific task for the company. Once the problem is resolved or the task completed his job basically is finished. A Coach, however, continues giving support, guidance, and encouragement long after the consultant is gone.
